And here's why:
I'm working as an aide for Migrant Summer School. MSS is for children of the parents who work seasonally on the farms surrounding our town.
7 hours of being with our kiddos-all 30 of them.
They were so great, seemed eager to be there.
Most of them speak English, but several have only been here 6 months and so the very-able teacher translates her directions constantly. I look forward to lots of opportunities to practice my Spanish.
When I got home yesterday, I did what I always do.
I went outside to my happy place under the fir trees, sat on my Adirondack chair,
and drank a cup of coffee just to process the week.
As I sat there, the Lord reminded me Who had orchestrated it and that I hadn't spent time with Him for a couple days.
Me and Boomer, snuggling in my happy place a few years ago. |
I read a devotion about how He shows me my purpose, citing this passage:
This is what the LORD says-
I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you what is best for you,
who directs you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:17
It's so good to realize that I am where I should be, right smack dab in the middle of His plans for me in this season.
And this is how I know: I feel peace and joy and fulfillment as I interact with each of those 30 little lambs. I get to be His hands and feet and mouthpiece all day long to them.
I get to teach them what is best for them and thus, touch their lives for eternity during these four weeks.
Are you living God's purpose for you?
How did He reveal that to you?
What is your attitude about His portion for this season of your life?
May you realize the peace, joy, and fulfillment of your purpose in God's plans this week,
dear ones!

Not sure if you were really asking your readers, but I would answer "I vascilate b/w the two." For various reasons that I am constantly bringing before him...
Hope you are doing well.

I am crying, reading this. I KNOW you are God, but I only feel that I am hurting, not learning. Why can't I learn? Can I get through this, and is there anything better after it? How long, Lord? I am no one to question the God of the universe who counts the hairs on my head, but THIS is the way I should go?
For precious K: Lord, I pray that you will bring someone across her path who will share how they've seen her grow in the season she's in. Please remind her hurting heart that your grace covers all of her shortcomings. Remind her, too, of the talents with which you've blessed her. Draw her to repentance of her sins and forgiveness of others' sins, if need be. May she feel your everlasting love right now.
Yooh Karen,
I believe I am living Gods purpose for my life..It is quiter now that I am older..But Jesus said to go tell. Thats what I do, as the Holy Spirit directs, and I live the example in all I do. When you live the Word, people see it and they say, "You are different." Or, I've never known anyone like you. That's when its easy to say, It's not me, it's Jesus.
I have had many spiritual encounters, and they are I suppose, the reason for my strong faith.
Jesus came and stood beside me years ago when I was very ill..He came as a sheppard. This was confirmed by a bible reading from my daughter later on.
My attitude is, I am His and His tool, He will use me as He Wills.

Right now God is calling me to a purpose that I don't want to partake in. In fact, most days I ask God to release me from this assignment! However, I persevere because I know this place I am in is only temporary, and there is peace and joy in the obedience of it all.
.. It's interesting the way God works.. Just before reading your blog I said a quite prayer about my life's purpose. Still questioning if this is really what He wants, is this really it? And.. if so I am ready. Although "I vacillate between the two.", I can't help but think He placed this post in front of me as a confirmation. Thank you for this post.
Blessings,
Misty
Interesting Karen. This is good stuff and I am so pleased that you are feeling fulfilled in what you are doing. That's a wonderful thing. In our study before church Sunday one interesing point that came up is that God's promises are there, we were talking about baptism (means of grace) and he said that in this and other ways God "delivers the goods" regardless of whether we are feeling it. I find that encouraging. Trusting Him that He is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do. :) Blessings to you!
It is very special to know that what you are doing and where you are has been directed by the Lord. I believe this in my own life as well. Where we live now is not where I would have chosen but it is perfect. God knew so much better than we did where we should be. It is only by his providence that we are where we are.
Love the picture.
Blessings,
Charlotte
Very good food for thought...I will be pondering your questions this evening...
I love your "happy place"!
